Lecturers’ Scholarly Article and Essay Prizes

Are you a lecturer or faculty member in any accredited or government-recognised tertiary institution such as a university, polytechnic, monotechnic, college of education, college of agriculture, college of health, etc (or similar peer institutions)? Are you under the publish-or-perish maxim? Or are you an independent researcher?

The NERD management designed this annual prize as a token to serve as an institutional incentive for the hard work put into publishing research papers by members of the academic across all thematic areas covering agriculture, arts, sciences, social sciences, law, finance, engineering, medicine, management, information technology, etc.

To qualify, ensure that your essay has been peer-reviewed and published in a reputable journal with high impact. Specific scores are assigned for the impact factor of the publishing platform to promote excellence. Each essay will, however, be further assessed by our team of scholars and scored against its peers.

There are two contest diets per year (May and November). Submissions shall be bi-annual and on a rolling basis, which means an academic can actually submit author’s copies of published essays anytime throughout the year.

Winning essays will be published at the same time as the Prize announcement for the Thesis and Dissertation competitions.

How to participate

To enter your work for the contest, log in to NERD if you already have a verified NERD credential and submit your work normally. Then, shoot an email to contest@ned.gov.ng with the permanent URL for your submission included in the email to enable the NERD team of assessors to judge and score the work. For intending participants without a NERD credential, first, register to obtain a login credential and follow the above steps. It is that simple.
