    Chapter 18 - Curriculum development and evolution of capacity building for protected area management in Africa: The experience of University of Ibadan, Nigeria

    Since this book is meant primarily for students, it must be noted that wildlife alone cannot be taught in isolation from other components of natural resources/biodiversity. The author of this book therefore presented a holistic approach to capacity building with the evolution of curricula that embrace wildlife and fisheries and forestry. This chapter also provides a brief account on the establishment of the first functional department of wildlife and fisheries under his leadership. The curricula presented in Chapters 18 and 20 represent model academic programs in wildlife and fisheries at the University of Ibadan. These curricula were designed to be indirect response to the yearning and need of Africa and the tropical world in capacity building for their wildlife and fishery resources.
